World exploration with tactical combat and role-playing game elements. Very early access.
The game is announced for the Windows platform.
A young knight arrived in a small town in the middle of the forests. Here he will carry out the orders of the command and help local residents in their needs.
The gameplay is an exploration of the world with tactical battles.
At the beginning there is a small but intelligible combat training.
The personality of the main character is strictly defined. Almost immediately he finds a squad with whom he will run.
Some locations, including the starting town, are peaceful zones. Here we collect quests and go to complete them in combat zones. The task can also be received in a combat location, so you should carefully inspect everything. The quest can be related to the main storyline (yellow exclamation mark) or auxiliary (blue exclamation mark).
The squad runs around the city in the form of one main character, and when entering a combat level it is proposed to build units in the desired formation. At the same time, any member of the squad can steer, the rest will run after him according to his place in the formation. This is quite important, for example, it is logical to send the tank forward when attacking.
Combat system – tactical battles based on action points. At the beginning of the battle, each hero is given 5 action points out of 10. They can be spent on moving and delivering various attacks.
Those action points that are not spent during a turn are added to the action points that will be given out on the next turn (5 points).
It’s not entirely clear whether it’s possible to get additional action points per turn for pumping up some stat. This is one of the disadvantages of the game – there are no descriptions of what exactly this or that stat gives.
Heroes initially have only their https://betnerouk.co.uk/mobile-app/ starting active skills unlocked. The rest (there are many of them) are obtained as you level up.
For increasing the level you are awarded three stat points and one skill point.
Enemies act similarly to our heroes. At the start they pose a serious danger. But, in principle, everything is structured here in such a way that you can replay combat locations and farm them for experience (the power of heroes increases greatly with the level) and loot – opponents and collected resources are reborn when you re-enter the level.
Some sort of camp site might be found. Here we save progress and heal damaged heroes. There is no automatic regeneration between battles, so the story is up to date. Resting in a tent does not count as leaving the level, so enemies do not respawn.
Crafting available. We can get it from the blacksmith in the hub city. Ingredients found during adventures are used.
Let’s look at the pros and cons of the game and summarize.
+ Simple but nice graphics (with exceptions, which are indicated in the cons).
+ Good music and sound.
+ Quite a simple but interesting role-playing system with upgrading stats and skills. Heroes are archetypal.
+ Good turn-based battles.
+ Aggressive opponents who may compete with our heroes for some time.
THINGS THAT CAN BE BOTH A PLUS AND AN IMINUS:
± It is possible to farm experience, resources and equipment from already completed levels. At the same time, heroes are pumped up and winning becomes much easier. Personally, I liked it, but some may not like this simplification.
– Terribly working camera, with which we observe locations. “On paper” it is very good: you can zoom in/out, you can inspect the location. There is just one small but extremely unpleasant problem – the camera clings to the tops of trees, constantly gets stuck there and it can be very difficult to get out. Personally, this turned me off from the game, although, overall, I liked it.
– The stats do not have clear descriptions – what they do.
– Poor implementation of trees, and there are a lot of them in the game! It’s not very convenient to move and fight; sometimes the heroes behind them are simply not visible. Plus – the camera also clings to them, as I wrote about above.
– Very small font in some windows.
– No Russian localization of texts. Personally, my average low level of knowledge of English was enough for me to confidently understand what was happening.
CONCLUSIONS OBJECTIVE
This is a game with tactical battles, a small role-playing system, world exploration and simple plots.
CONCLUSIONS ARE SUBJECTIVE
Overall I liked the game. What got me down (and didn’t really let me play) was the way the camera was implemented – it gets confused everywhere (trees, houses, rocks) and you have to heroically overcome its resistance. I really hope this will be fixed. Then the project has a chance to become a simple but good game.
PS: I probably didn’t cover all the aspects, I might have missed something. I will be glad to add/correct the review or answer questions along the way in the comments.
